Rain and Cicadas

Last night, E.S. had its first rain of the season. This one of the signs that we're on Easter time or more like ; then comes the crying of the chicharras (cigarras or cicadas) who are of great significance to what comes next: Holy week!

The cicadas have lots of myths, mostly and in many countries, they're related with Christianity:
  • Their cycle of life is coordinated with Holy week
  • They come out around March through April, sometimes until May
  • Their singing is refered as songs of love or sorrow
  • They have 3 ocellies which many think that they're the three nails embedded to Jesus Christ.
  • For many people, the cicada reminds them they must live the Lent
For me, they tell me it's almost time for our MEGAMISSIONS!

I hate to take the wrong desicion when I'm half sleep! I had the perfect chance today of having a nice breakfast with all my family including my grandpa who I don't see often, BUT my mind at 8:30 was still too dumb to see that great opportunity and prefered to stay in bed. HATE IT! =(

You live, you learn...

They were both sad of what had just happend, but he had more doubts than her. And as she was walking away he asked "why now?" and her only answer was "You live, you learn". - Based on a true story.

What I'm talking about? About love. Yesterday I was invited to a certain type of meeting in which it's not of an especific religion but their main objective is to pray to the Lord and share their experiences of how He has transform their lives. On our way to the meeting, one of the guys who had invited me started to talk about how his love life had been before knowing Christ and how he changed everything he did after months of praying; it was a change of 180 degrees.

One of the things he shared with us was something that a friend of his once told him: EVERY EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE, YOU MUST SEE IT AS POSITIVE, why? because that is how we learn and that's when he told me about story of couple, the one with I started today: "You live, you learn".

After thought, I asked him about what if I was sick of dating and prefered to wait for the one with I'm supposed to be with the rest of my life. His answer was simple: the Lord will send you who ever He consideres is correct either for learning or for being your parterner de rest of your life: I must live to learn.

Then, another friend add his advise with the same words he had been advised; "Don't look for love, you must wait for it. And when your face to face, one in front of the other, you will reconized each other".

So that is it, that is what I'm gonna do, wait and accept what He decides what is best for me.

Busy weeks!

It's incredible how this February is almost gone. On the first week, I was so desperate to get out of my house that I asked God for work, and He gave it to me. I've been working now as subtitute teacher for two weeks during the morning and studying in the afternoons and some days I go to my praying meetings. I end up exhausted by 8pm. Yet I don't regret anything.

I really think I’m blessed with the work I do; I love children and until you work with them, you realized all the different problems they have and how much they need you. Last week, when I was helping a 7 year old boy in first grade, I saw him to the eye and catch him a glance of kindness, so deep and pure. I stopped to look around the class and it was then that I realized that no matter if I fight through the week with screamy boys, chattering girls, mean co-workers, etc, I’m 100% sure that this is what I like, that I’m in the correct place.

It’s been a very busy week, and the one coming will be worst; it’ll be 1st period exams and it’s a lot what I have to read and study. For the mean while I’m concentrating in this Lent, getting prepared for the most important week in the year.

Blessings for all. Me.

Best day before V-day; part 1

Last time, after reading a few entries of a friend's blog, I really thought that maybe, just maybe, I could do a poem too: WRONG! I have no abilities, therefore I deleted the only 2 sentences I'd written and started this new entry.

Yesterday was 13 of Feb, which means today is the real celebration of Valentine's day. A day that in many countries, including us, has been so commercialized that the celebration starts on the first day of the month and keeping everyone is too busy and concentrated in having something, anything that day or any day near the 14th) and can't think of anything else. But there are still some people working in important things that I would consider more important than wasting your time and money in days like this (when everything in more expensive just for being a "special day").

For example, my very special and beloved scout friends Tiche, Tochy and Alonso have their so expected event to launch La Red de Jovenes. Their presentation was at 6:30 but the whole event started at 5, that was our due hour to be at our Scout House. This is what happen before:

2:30 - I was having lunch with my family, Alonso called: they needed extra hands.
2:45 - Frodo and I met them at Quiznos, they were finishing their lunch and then we all started to fold some pocket booklets.
3:30 - We headed to Alonso's house to finish the rest of the work. Meanwhile, in the car, Tiche and I, we were folding what were going to be the gifts/souvenirs.
4:00 - There were 3 main things to do: fix the gifts which meant burn 50 CDs, instal the banners in the rollers and cut out some stickers.
4:06 - Problems: the banners were not the roller's size, they're way bigger. I cut my finger with a blade and the only CD burned was not working!!!!
4:30 - Almost finished... OR NOT! By this time we thought we'd finished but then we realized that there some of the folded gifts left in the car, so more CDs were needed and no time.
5:00 - Everything is done, we're getting ready but it's 5pm! we're supposed to be already at SH!
5:10 - Alonso drove like a wild man but we're on time, the whole thing had a delay due to technological problems Thank God!
...
6:20 to 7:00 - They had their presentation: EXCELLENT WORK!

Everything ended well, everyone loved it, special our Scout Chief. After this, comes part 2 of my story which is deciding where to celebrate such a day, but this story is as long as this one and I'm hungry. Maybe later this day I'll keep writing; anyways, today is 14 and I have nothing to do, no love plans.

Can't sleep

I really wish there would be a reasonable reason for my sleepless nights. Reasons like exams, essays, personal problems, projects o at least a failed love would be more acceptable for keeping my self awake rather than by mosquitos!!! It's the worst thing EVER!

My biological clock doesn't permit me to go to bed before 12. I take at least an hour to get prepare, do my prayers and actually get some sleep. But before that last action, I start hearing buzzing next to my ear, and next thing I feel is at least three mosquitos bites all around my arms and hands! I have "autan" spirals and my fan on, and that doesn't stop them. I even wake up to see if a can kill some at 3:30 am; but they can sure hide away. Also, they seem to be like Bruce Willis in Die Hard: when I think that I've kill one, NO! THEY'RE ALIVE! they keep flying and buzzing!!!! I end up sleeping a few scattered hours. I HATE THEM!!!!

HOW GLORIOUS IS THE LORD!

It easy to be blind to the wonders our Lord. Our daily activities fill us up to the top, and sometimes we can forget He is there for us. But there are always sunshine rays lighting our way to Him.

I started university this week. That means there are no more free afternoons for me until vacation. The thing is that I was so busy trying to catch up with work and making myself to be an active person again, that I was starting to put my spiritual activities at one side. But today, the Lord called me back! I was cancelled my last class which meant I was free by 4:45pm and my activities were at 5:30! I made some fast calls to fix my transportation and WUALA: I was at the club at 5:00pm! Me very very happy =D

Just hopping to go to my retreat this weekend. If it's His will, I'll be there!
